CLINICALLY EXCELLENT, EMPOWERING CANCER CARE
rehabilitation to live your life to your maximum potential
Are you, or someone close to you, one of the 14 million cancer survivors in the United States? If so, it is profoundly important to receive comprehensive, rehabilitative care during and after your cancer treatment.
At Oncology Rehab, we recognize this need and have focused on oncology based therapy programs; Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy cancer rehabilitation programs designed specifically for patients with all types of cancer diagnoses, in all phases of treatment. Too often, rehabilitation only addresses one symptom - usually lymphedema - and, even then, the referral often only happens once the condition fully develops. Early referral and addressing the complete rehabilitation needs of our patients with our unique body-systems approach allows us to treat multiple symptoms and create a plan of care that can mitigate the development of long term issues (like restricted range of motion, fibrosis, lymphedema, deconditioning, vestibular issues, pain and neuropathy). However, even years after your active treatment, we can help manage the conditions caused by your cancer treatment - make an appointment for one of our therapists to evaluate your needs and develop a plan of care tailored to your needs. |
We offer specialist physical therapy, speech therapy & occupational therapy services:

The Oncology Rehab Story
In early 2002, a Denver Oncologist was trying to find a Physical Therapist to provide rehabilitation for a patient of his who was really battling with the effects of her breast cancer treatment on her body. After calling multiple PT practices, the oncologist came across the clinic where Julia Osborne was working and asked if any of the therapists would be prepared to try to treat the oncology patient. With her broad experience, Julia felt she would be able apply her expertise to the patient’s symptoms and help her. Julia found the experience of treating this oncology patient inspirational and decided to dedicate her practice to treating oncology patients.
She pursued her lymphedema qualifications and then amalgamated these lymphedema treatment methodologies into protocols she was developing rooted in trigger point release, joint mobilization and other evidence-based "traditional" physical therapy techniques. These new treatment protocols proved to be both revolutionary and extremely successful for the breast cancer population that she quickly became known for treating.
Between 2002 and 2009 Julia’s practice grew to the point that she was unable to cope with the demand for her care and she decided to open her own clinic with a view to bring on one or two therapists to help her. At that time the clinic’s focus was still in breast cancer, but with big dreams to one day serve the ever-growing, ever-diverse population of all cancer diagnoses, it was rightly named Oncology Rehab.
The clinic has grown and flourished beyond expectations and, while breast cancer patients are still our largest patient group, we now have met that dream of offering rehabilitation services for all cancer diagnoses with multiple specialist, therapists on board. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy), that enables us to provide rehabilitation to patients with all cancer diagnoses in all phases of their cancer treatment from acute (during chemotherapy, radiation & 2 weeks post-surgery) through long-term survivorship. We offer specialized programs for the unique needs of breast cancer patients, pelvic cancer patients (uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, colo-rectal cancers, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer), head & neck cancer patients (tongue cancer, cancer of the larynx, sinus cancer, salivary gland cancer, esophageal cancer, thyroid cancer), brain tumor patients, and metastatic patients.
We also offer chemotherapy rehab programs for any patient that is currently undergoing chemo treatment or who is still struggling with the latent effects of their chemo treatments. Our neuro-oncology and cancer exercise programs allow us to provide chemo rehabilitation programs that can address cancer-related fatigue, neuropathy, balance issues, vestibular dysfunction and general strength and reconditioning rehabilitation. Our exercise based oncology rehabilitation programs can are also appropriate for patients diagnosed with lung cancer or patients needing prehab ahead of oncology related surgeries.
Julia Osborne, PT, CLT-LANA, now has national recognition for her oncology rehabilitation program development and her teaching of physical therapists and occupational therapists throughout the USA in the field of oncology rehabilitation. She has developed and teaches a 4-day assessment-based certificate program in Oncology Rehabilitation through the Physiological Oncology Rehabilitation Institute (PORi) as well as teaching 2-day CEU courses through North American Seminars. Since 2008, she has taught her treatment protocols and methodologies across the USA, Canada and as far afield as Hong Kong. In addition, all of the physical therapists at Oncology Rehab bring their own training, knowledge, and expertise to the table, as well as receiving continuing, intense training from Julia Osborne. At Oncology Rehab, we provide a unified, solid foundation of clinical expertise, from which we create leading edge, nationally acclaimed clinical programs.
